The following is a list of elected positions on our executive along with descriptions of the requirements.

To nominate someone for President or Vice-President, fill out this google form by February 15.

President

  • Must be an active member of the BCTF: public school educator
  • Act as the primary contact person for the BCAMT
  • Act as the liaison with BCTF and ensure the BCAMT’s compliance with BCTF rules and accountability
  • Provide leadership and direction to the BCAMT; be answerable to its members
  • Understand the BCAMT constitution
  • Create the agenda and lead all executive meetings: seven days a year
  • Chair all table officer meetings: four days a year
  • Create the agenda and lead the AGM each year
  • Oversee voting procedures and results
  • Attend all BCTF PSAC meetings: six days per year
  • Travel to provide professional learning outreach around BC
  • Liaison with the Ministry of Education regarding mathematics education and curriculum
  • Lead collaboration to develop BCAMT vision and goals
  • Problem-solve and delegate to achieve BCAMT goals
  • Conduct follow-up to ensure BCAMT’s projects are progressing
  • Oversee all BCAMT committees
  • Must be a member of Election, Conference, Award and Grant committees
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive meeting and working environment
  • Uphold and communicate BCTF messages and directions
  • Have sufficient knowledge of the PSA Members’ Guide
  • Oversee all financial transactions and decisions
  • Communicate regularly through emails, newsletters, and Vector introductions
  • Represent the BCAMT to outside agencies including the media
  • Represent the BCAMT as affiliates to the NCTM and the NCSM including travel to meetings in the US
  • Maintain liaison with post-secondary in the area of mathematics and prerequisites

Vice-President

  • Must be an active member of the BCTF: public school educator
  • Act as the secondary contact person for the BCAMT
  • Provide leadership and direction to the BCAMT
  • Understand the BCAMT constitution
  • Act in the President’s role when the President is unable:
    • Create the agenda and lead executive meetings
    • Chair and lead table officer meetings
    • Attend BCTF PSAC meetings
  • Attend all Saturday executive and Friday table officer meetings (8 days per year)
  • Attend and help plan the annual Think Tank Weekend ( 3 days per year)
  • Oversee website updates and improvements
  • Must be a member of Election, Conference, Award and Grant committees
  • Travel to provide professional learning outreach around BC
  • Support collaboration to develop BCAMT vision and goals
  • Assist in ensuring that BCAMT’s projects are progressing
