Each year the BCAMT offers $5000 in grant funds to its membership. The funds must be used to further mathematics education in BC. These initiatives must meet the Goals and Objectives of the BCAMT. These funds are not meant for individual professional development.
The BCAMT values the sharing of ideas and requires that successful applicants submit an article detailing their initiatives and results for Vector and a summary with its highlights for the newsletter.
Requirements for application:
- Fill out: 2011 2012 Grant Application Form (fillable pdf form)
- A rationale for the funding request (max. 1 page)
- The goals of your initiative (SMART goals: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely)
- details of your initiative including estimated number of teachers or students affected (breadth of impact) as well as likelihood of success (depth or duration of impact) (max. of 1 page)
- a detailed budget. (List expenses, other funding, etc.)
Recommendations for writing an article for Vector:
Four Step Model
1) Introduction: State your plan clearly, outline your intent, maybe indicate what you were given funds for and why you asked for them. What are your goals? What are you trying to achieve? What are you looking for?
2) What did you do? Did you state clearly what you did? How did it look? Was the implementation simple?
3) How did it go? What happened? Did the implementation flow smoothly? Were there any issues that you had to deal with?
4) Reflection and Conclusion: What do you think now? What can you tell the readers about your attempt? Did you achieve your goals?
